About us

History

The Laterna Magica film festival and contest started in 1992 in Vesterålen, Norway. Each autumn, kids from the region submit their films to the contest, and a jury of professional film makers choose the finalists. The winners of the Laterna Magica film contest are announced at the annual film fest late november.


In Vesterålen we use quite a lot of energy in making youth get the posibillities to make short films. Quite a few youngsters have taken the big step in becoming professional film makers after parcitipating in the Laterna Magica programme.


Lately we have been so lucky to be able to cooperate with friends in Iceland and Ireland. That´s why we this year invite you to submit films to the Laterna Magica contest.

Participate!

Criterias

Filmmakers must be between 10 and 20 years of age.
The film can be between 1 and 6 minutes long
All films must have subtitles
The submissions must have the necesarry rights to be published to Youtube
Participants must live in Eything and East Iceland or Donnegal (Ireland), Lofoten or Vesterålen.
